Criss Angel has been headlining Las Vegas longer than most shows survive. His first residency, BeLIEve with Cirque du Soleil, opened at the Luxor in 2008 and became the bestselling live magic show in the world. That run evolved into Mindfreak LIVE!, and in 2018, Angel moved to a purpose-built theater at Planet Hollywood that bears his name. The current production, MINDFREAK, is the third chapter, and the 2,000-seat Criss Angel Theater still goes dark only two nights a week.

If you’re comparing vegas magic shows, this one stands apart on sheer density. The show packs 50-plus illusions into a 75-minute runtime, including the levitation that Vanish Magazine named the greatest illusion of all time. Angel created, directs, and performs every element himself, backed by lighting rigs, pyrotechnics, and video production that rival the biggest pop concerts on the Strip.
What “Magician of the Century” Looks Like Onstage
The International Magicians Society awarded Angel its “Magician of the Decade” title in 2009 and followed it with “Magician of the Century” in 2010. A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame came in 2017. Those accolades translate directly to the theater, which was designed around Angel’s specific staging needs rather than retrofitted from an older venue.
MINDFREAK blends signature pieces from his six-season A&E television series with new material developed exclusively for this production. Expect disappearances, escapes, and close-up work projected onto screens so every seat in the house catches the detail. The pacing is relentless. There is no filler segment, no guest comedian, no 10-minute video interlude. It is 75 straight minutes of illusions.
For a limited run, Angel has also partnered with Alice Cooper on “Welcome to Our Nightmare!”, a 90-minute hybrid of shock rock and stage magic. If the collaboration is still on the schedule when you visit, it adds a dimension that no other production show in Las Vegas currently offers.
Same Venue, Three Price Points
Planet Hollywood is one of the busier show corridors on the Strip, and the Criss Angel Theater sits alongside several other residencies in the building. Jeff Dunham performs comedy in the same complex from $78, and the Scorpions bring their fourth sold-out rock residency to Planet Hollywood from $94. If you’re building a multi-night itinerary, one hotel can cover three completely different genres.
For magic specifically, the closest comparison on the Strip is Penn & Teller at the Rio from $96. Penn & Teller lean into comedy and audience interaction. Angel leans into spectacle and production scale. The two shows complement each other more than they compete, and booking both in the same trip gives you the full range of what shows in Las Vegas deliver in the magic category.
Tickets and Schedule
MINDFREAK runs Wednesday through Sunday at 7:00 PM. The show is dark Monday and Tuesday. Runtime is 75 minutes with no intermission. The recommended age is 10 and up.
Tickets start from $87 on Spotlight, where you can pick exact seats through the interactive seating chart. The Criss Angel Theater holds roughly 2,000 people, so even popular dates tend to have availability, but the best sightlines in center orchestra sell first. Book early if your trip dates are locked.
