Sphere Entertainment announced production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Sphere, a new addition to The Sphere Experience slate that will use the venue’s signature technology to reimagine the 1975 cult classic. The show joins Sphere’s slate of original content and is expected to open sometime in 2027. Sphere Builds Out Its Immersive Slate

Rocky Horror will use Sphere Studios’ technology to enhance the original 1975 film, a cult classic famous for its rowdy midnight showings and audience participation. The movie, adapted by Richard O’Brien from his own stage musical, follows a newly engaged couple who stumble into the world of Dr. Frank-N-Furter after their car breaks down. Sphere Entertainment chairman and CEO Jim Dolan said the studio is building “a slate of original experiences that push the boundaries of technology and storytelling,” keeping the audience at the center. The new production joins Darren Aronofsky’s Postcard From Earth and The Wizard of Oz at Sphere, giving the venue three original immersive titles once it opens. The $100 million production reimagines the 1939 classic with the venue’s wraparound screen, and it’s the show that proved Sphere’s original-content model works.
